The physical recovery method of PET plastic bottle is relatively simple, which mainly includes drying and granulation of clean PET plastic bottle waste. The physical treatment of PET plastic bottles is closely related to the sorting process. There are two main physical recovery methods: one is to cut waste PET plastic bottles into pieces and separate HDPE, aluminium, paper and adhesives from PET. Then PET fragments are washed, dried and granulated; the other is to separate non-PET bottle caps, base, labels and other impurities on waste PET plastic bottles by mechanical method, and then wash, crush and granulate. The regenerated PET must not contain PVC impurities, otherwise it will affect the color of PET.

When the amount of PVC is small, it can be separated manually on the conveyor belt. That is to say, under torsion, PVC and PET plastic bottles produce different melting points in the stressed part. The broken PET and PVC fragments are attached to the conveyor belt after melting through the conveyor belt equipped with heater and temperature control, which can be separated from PET. The label on the beverage bottle can be removed by the combined separator of blower and cyclone after the bottle is broken.

In order to ensure the separation efficiency of the label, more than two sets of separation devices can be used in production. Washing PET debris is very important. Washing often uses hot water at 80-100 C to soften or dissolve EVA adhesives or other types of adhesives for sticking labels and substrates. Additives, such as alkali, emulsifier or other special chemicals, are added to the water in order to prevent the adhesives from falling off from adhering to PET fragments.

The composition and content of the cleaning solution are generally determined by the factory according to the source of the waste bottle and the bonding characteristics. The cleaning solution can be filtered, reheated and recycled. The washing can be carried out in a special cleaning tank with an agitator. In order to ensure the cleaning effect, a two-stage washing process can be adopted. PET fragments are usually dried by centrifugal dehydrator to reduce the moisture content of fragments to 2%, and then by belt or tube dryer to reduce the moisture content to 0.5%.
